BigCommerce Alternatives 2020
BigCommerce features allow you to launch and manage your online shop—from designing and launching your web store to taking orders, processing payments, and handling shipping. Here is a list of its most noteworthy features.
This feature provides you with access to all your orders and sorts them according to which fulfillment process stage it is in—awaiting payment, fulfillment, and shipment. Incomplete, refunded, and archived orders are categorized accordingly. All order information can be exported as a CSV file for use with other services such as third-party fulfillment companies.
The Products tab in your BigCommerce dashboard provides an at-a-glance overview of your stock. The layout makes it easy to update products, add new items, and edit product descriptions and prices. From this page, you can also be as detailed as you want with your products’ metadata description—allowing you to take advantage of search engine optimization (SEO).
BigCommerce offers multiple ways to sell your products outside of your storefront such as on social media platforms (Facebook and Instagram). You also get the ability to list your items on ecommerce marketplaces like eBay and Amazon.
Add-ons and Integrations
BigCommerce has an extensive app store, with add-ons for almost all kinds of businesses you can think of. You can find add-ons for shipping and marketing as well as business tools that help you with accounting, taxes, customer relationship management (CRM), and social media selling.
It also integrates with hundreds of industry-specific applications—affiliate tracking, drop shipping, omnichannel inventory management, product reviews, and analytics software.
It also does not have its own payment processor but lets you decide which one to go with. It integrates with PayPal (powered by Braintree), Square Payments, Stripe, QuickBooks Payments, First Data, Heartland, Global Payments, Cybersource, Authorize.net, Adyen, Klarna, Chase Paymentech, and Amazon Payments. As of April 3, 2020, BigCommerce announced that it will soon support Afterpay.
Most Helpful BigCommerce Reviews
BigCommerce reviews are mostly positive. Its user base commends its excellent customer service, competitive pricing, and variety of integrations. They noted that its plans are comparable to other providers and yet, it does not charge transaction fees.
Most negative BigCommerce reviews center around its unhelpful tutorials, as well as complaints on set up difficulties and fraudulent orders. They shared that set up can be a challenge for users who do not have technical experience setting up stores or websites.
Outstanding customer support; Facebook integration is seamless
“I find BigCommerce works really well within our needs and even exceeds them in many aspects. The customer support is second to none and it even includes you in its “Town Hall” which is a monthly live update where it explains a few new product patches if any and also hold a Q&A at the end. This makes me feel counted as a valued customer. The integration of Facebook is great as well as I am able to list my products on my website and it automatically gets imported to Facebook. Massive kudos to BigCommerce from me.”
No way to block spam/fraud ordering
“I wish there was a way to block spam/fraud. There are a few individuals that continually try to use stolen credit cards. About 99% get denied. But they load up their cart and attempt to buy me out of items so I get hundreds of emails saying products are out of inventory or low inventory. There is also one email address that sends in messages all day via the Contact Us on the site and my inbox gets flooded. I wish there was a way to block emails from using the site.”
