What does the company do well?
Optimizely is a great tool for A/B testing. If you want to run experiments on your websites, test different variations of call-to-actions, titles, website copy, then Optimziely is the tool you are going to use and you'll be satisfied. I like that there is no need to ask the developers to change things on the website if you want to A/B test something. We just add Optimizely's code to our website and then I create experiments using the dashboard and push them to live as soon as they are ready. It did a great job and helped us A/B test and pick the call-to-action button copy that converted more.
What does the company not do well?
When I just signed up it was kind of unclear how to get started. Maybe it's me because I didn't read the instructions in details. Also, it was kind of unclear what's going to happen after the 30-day trial period and how we are going to be charged. Then we discovered that the pricing is based on the website visitors who will be the part of the experiment. It's kind of hard for us to estimate that number. Would be great if they offer not just a free 30-day trial, but also a small free package (e.g. 2-3 experiments and up to 100 visitors). This would be great for small startups who are just starting. But overall Optimizely is a great product and I highly recommend it to use for A/B testing.
What about the company do you wish you had known before purchasing?
We started with the free trial and everything was good. We may use the paid version in future.
