What does the company do well? TMetric is an excellent simple time tracker. After trying various time tracking tools, TMetric was refreshing in its simplicity, while not being a completely bare bones time tracker.
What does the company not do well? 1) The tracked time is rounded to the nearest minute. There no visual feedback that a timer is ticking by second after second... Not a big deal, but I'd prefer to just see the seconds and know the timer is running.
2) The time tracking page is limited to viewing one day at a time. I'd prefer to have more flexible options such as a whole week.
3) Overall TMetric feels a little rigid... you have to learn how TMetric works, rather than just doing what comes naturally. For example, if I wanted to add a entry for yesterday, clicking "Add Time Entry" won't give you a date selection, because it will only add entries for the day you're on. First navigate to the day you want to add an entry, then add the entry. Another example: If you start tracking your time for a new project, there's no option to create a new project right there. If the project doesn't already exist, you have to leave your time unassigned, and first go create the project and client in the "Manage" area.
These things didn't bother me too much... until I used Toggl. It's intuitive and flexible in a way that makes TMetric feel too rigid and unhelpful.
What do you wish you had known about the company before using? First time I tried TMetric, I found out their desktop client was Windows only. However, things have changed and they now have desktop apps for Mac and Linux as well! Glad to see they're improving in that area, but I'm a little disappointed to see things haven't changed much in the time tracking interface.
