What does the software or service not do well?
Paid $495.00 to LegalZoom for trademark application completion and submission. There was a LegalZoom pre-application that was later determined to be the actual USPTO TEAS Plus trademark application. Several days after submission of the LegalZoom pre-application and payment, I received an email stating a logo was needed. Twenty-four hours after submission of logo, I received another email stating permission was needed to convert the logo to black and white or a black and white logo needed to be submitted. I re-submitted the logo as Black and White. Twenty-four hours later, I received another email stating this was incorrect for numerous reasons. The last email from LegalZoom had bolded words, underlined words…a generally unacceptable “professional” email communication. At this point I contact the USPTO and spoke with a very nice and helpful representative. Based on the information I received from the USPTO, I then phoned LegalZoom to speak to a representative. The person I spoke with, Isabelle, was wholly unprofessional. At several points during the conversation there were extremely long pauses prior to her response. The LegalZoom representative who I paid, essentially $500, informed me I could call the USPTO and discuss my issue with them because LegalZoom had completed numerous successful applications. At this point, I requested a cancellation of service. I was informed “gladly” and abruptly disconnected. I again phoned LegalZoom and spoke to representative John regarding monetary refund. I was informed 5-7 business days. With the assistance of the USPTO, I completed and submitted the application myself online for $225.00. After each USPTO call I was provided with a reference number for tracking and review. I can utilize the TM assignment and have yet to receive any untoward communications from USPTO attorneys requesting additional information. This is how I discovered that I had completed the USPTO application myself as a LegalZoom pre-application. I completed the USPTO TEAS Plus in approximately 60 minutes. I would suggest those considering LegalZoom save their money or utilize another company.
