What does Google Hangouts do well? Love that it's a free service and part of the Google Suite of products.
What does Google Hangouts not do well? I know some people love and regularly use Hangouts, but I have had very spotty success with it. Sometimes I've been able to call and chat with people, and even share screens, but most of the time, people have trouble with audio, video, or both. It seems to work best with just two people. I tried a handful of times to host a regularly scheduled chat with three people, and we had back-to-back issues with it, and finally just gave up using it. I haven't gone back because of the effort and trouble.
What do you wish you had known about Google Hangouts before using? How many tech issues I'd have trying to host a group of three. Not worth it.
Have you used a competitor to Google Hangouts? If so, how does it compare? After giving up on Hangouts, I switched to Zoom and love it. It often takes people a time or two to get used to Zoom, but it's smooth sailing after that. I had repeated issues with Zoom, and won't go back. Most business peers I know also love Zoom.
