What does the software or service do well?
The customer services for Crest is awful. Although we don't know the full story because they are not answering their telephones, they completely missed payroll for several of our clients without any advanced notice. Crest debited the client accounts and took the money, but did not deposit the funds into the employees accounts (their ACH Team is working on it according to their message)! If a payroll service company doesn't pay payroll when promised, how can anyone use them! Two of our clients still have not had their employees paid as of 11-04-19 allow the funds were withdrawn from the client bank account on 10-23-19!
What does the software or service not do well?
Crest is completely unresponsive when there is a problem. They made mistakes with several clients 941 reporting that caused penalties to be assessed. Crest assured us that they would reimburse the penalties and, based on their promise, we reimbursed our clients. Crest has yet to reimburse my firm for the amounts. This is from the 4th quarter 2018!
What do you wish you had known about the software or service before using?
I wish that I had known that the company was based in India! We literally have no recourse but to share our experiences with others and hope that no one else has the problems with them. We are a CPA firm that wanted to add additional services for our clients. Unfortunately, our relationship with Crest Payroll has caused nothing but aggravation and delayed payroll. NEVER AGAIN!
Have you used a competitor to the software or service? If so, how does it compare?
Prior to using Crest Payroll we used Accountants World. We changed thinking it would be a bit cheaper. We never had a problem with Accountants World. We are moving to ADP now.
