What does Authorize.Net do well? Authorize.net is a perfectly fine payment gateway for processing credit cards, ACH transactions and managing payment schedules for different types of recurring transactions. They offer reasonable nonprofit pricing and competitive transaction fees compared to other gateways.
What does Authorize.Net not do well? Authorize's overall UI is very dated and difficult to navigate. Their terminology is hard to understand and has been so challenging for our customers to use compared to other gateways like Stripe. Authorize also charges an activation fee and a monthly gateway access fee, which other tools like Stripe do not charge.
What do you wish you had known about Authorize.Net before using? I wish I had known how difficult the platform would be to navigate compared to other gateways because I wouldn't have bothered signing up for them when we first moved away from Paypal.
Have you used a competitor to Authorize.Net? If so, how does it compare? We mainly use Stripe now for payment processing and the UI is so much better. They also do not charge any monthly fees on top of their transaction fees. It's easy to pull reports and seems to integrate with more fundraising tools out there compared to Authorize.
