What does the software or service do well?
Slack is perfect for any team that needs quick communication. It's concept of channels gives scope to direct messaging and keeps conversations focused, ultimately leading to better productivity. Slack also has a great editor, with the ability to even add code snippets with language highlighting.
What does the software or service not do well?
One thing the software could improve on is the layout of where new messages are placed on it's desktop apps. It gets a little confusing between looking through threads, DMs, and channels. They are all separated on the left-hand side. It would also be great to be able to respond to unread messages from the the "All unreads" section.
What do you wish you had known about the software or service before using?
I simply wish I had known about Slack earlier. Once our team started using it, I was able to recommend it to other teams across the company. Many of our teams use i today and it has been helpful for cross-departmental communication,
Have you used a competitor to the software or service? If so, how does it compare?
Not a direct competitor to Slack, but anyone using email would greatly benefit from this platform. Communication is so much easier!
